Self-care is the latest buzzword that refers to giving yourself space and time to re-charge your batteries. In a world that is overwhelmed, overworked, and underpaid, self-care is necessary; more so than ever before!
So here are 40 ways that you can care for yourself, right now, at absolutely no cost:
- Take a deep, cleansing breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth
- Take a nap
- Drink a glass of water
- Journal
- Download the “insight timer” app to listen to a free, guided meditation
- Put on your coziest pajamas and socks
- Straighten up one corner of one room of your house
- Go for a nature walk, during which you observe the natural landscape around you
- Call a friend who you haven’t talked to in a while
- Watch YouTube videos of puppies or kittens
- Listen to a favorite song
- Use a nice-smelling soap, shampoo, or lotion
- Sing at the top of your lungs
- Give yourself a hug (I know this sounds hokey, but it seriously feels great)
- Make funny faces in the mirror

- Or just stretch
- Jump up and down on a bed
